Chicago, IL – February 10, 2009 – The Education industry comprised of teachers and administrators whose job is to educate, train, and develop, surprisingly do not invest in their own Training and Development. Survey results revealed academic professionals scored lowest when asked about their satisfaction with the Training and Development they received compared to employees from other industries as shown below:
- The orientation for new employees is adequate. 45% favorable
- The organization provides effective on-the-job training. 55% favorable
- I am satisfied with the training I have received to perform my job. 59% favorable
Employees in the Education industry scored eight percentage points below the National Norm of 61 percent favorable on the Training and Development category.
"It is a great irony that those working for organizations responsible for providing Training and Development are least satisfied with the training they themselves have received," states Murat Philippe, Principal Consultant for HR Solutions. Philippe continues, "It is no surprise that those in Education tend to have a higher expectation for training, certification, and development. Unfortunately, it seems the cobbler’s children have no shoes."
HR Solutions’ Normative Database is comprised of over 2.2 million respondents from 2,100 organizations across various industries, all surveyed by HR Solutions, Inc.
