We are seeking a Technical Production Manager to help us keep pace with the growth in our business. The Technical Production Manager is responsible for all internal survey production work including direct supervision our 8 person (and growing) Production team and the management/leadership of our internal online reporting and action planning system, ActionPro™.
Competency: Leading/Managing the Production Team and ActionPro™ System
The Technical Production Manager is responsible for managing the production side of the survey process which includes:
- Survey design.
- Survey scanning.
- Written comment processing.
- Balanced workload distribution and delegation
- Vendor management.
- Proposal creation.
- Ancillary report generation - comprising both paper/pencil surveys and our online proprietary reporting and action planning system.
The Technical Production Manager is also the leader of our internally developed online reporting and action planning system, ActionPro™. This individual will have a strong technical background with extensive experience in IT project management.
The Technical Production Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Understanding of both the design of the system, architecture, application design, etc, and our business functions.
- Ability to interact with the development organization to prioritize changes, modifications, errors, etc.
- Ability to quickly problem solve/troubleshoot.
- Be a 'Forward Thinker' and anticipate ActionPro™ issues and updates based on the business needs.
- Update the ActionPro™ software both through the development organization and through his/her ability.
- Train internal staff on using ActionPro™.
- Answer technical issues and concerns; act as the ActionPro™ technical support contact for clients.
- Fully understand all the functionalities of ActionPro™.
- Update the technical manuals of the system - both internal manuals and external manuals.
- Able to navigate, troubleshoot and repair the inner workings of the ActionPro™ software.
- Tech Support (Internal AND External), meaning if clients have functionality problems, need passwords, etc.
- Quality management of the system; internal QA inspector of the system.
- Repeatedly make updates to ActionPro™ to better serve us and clients and communicate these updates frequently.
- When things are not right in ActionPro™ he/she should be able to get them resolved in a timely manner.
- Realize/remedy new design features and work collaboratively with the development organization.
This competency is illustrated by completing the following tasks:
- Customer Satisfaction Scores above 89% favorable.
- Do what is necessary to keep our ActionPro™ system up and running properly.
- Maximum ActionPro™ up-time.
- Plan and analyze system improvements, implementing them to completion in a timely manner.
- Development of procedure and processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
Competency: Technical Computer Knowledge
The Technical Production Manager has solid technical background, project management of IT applications,
and ability to lead/implement technical updates to the ActionPro™ system.
The Technical Production Manager demonstrates proficiency with the following technologies:
- Application Development Life Cycle; including development and technical knowledge in SQL, ASP, C Sharp.
- Understanding of both the design of the system, architecture, application design, etc, and our business functions.
- Knowledge of survey statistics.
- Strong web application development/support experience.
- Function as the expert of the ActionPro™ system.
- Server side scripting.
- Networking principles.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are required, advanced skills are a distinct advantage.
- Intermediate SPSS and Microsoft Access skills, advanced skills are a distinct advantage.
- Ability to learn and understand software packages used to transfer, design and process surveys.
This competency is illustrated by completing the following tasks:
- Maintain at least 89% favorable internal customer satisfaction score.
- Be held accountable for the proper maintenance of ActionPro™.
- Be held accountable for the proper maintenance of the production metrics and measurements.
Competency: Leadership
- The Technical Production Manager exhibits independent initiative, volunteering to manage high profile projects, improve current systems, investigate problems, etc.
- The Technical Production Manager works to help train all employees on how to most effectively use the ActionPro™ system and production software and procedures.
- Strong Customer Service skills.
- Good/Solid people management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, workflow and tasks, and respond to changing priorities.
This competency is illustrated by completing the following tasks:
- Do what is necessary to keep our ActionPro™ system up and running properly.
- Plan and analyze system improvements, implementing them to completion in a timely manner.
- Ensure all production metrics are being measured and achieving/exceeding goals.
Competency: Problem-Solving
- The Technical Production Manager can analyze information logically in order to solve work-related challenges.
- The Technical Production Manager can break complex problems (such as maximizing software efficiency, while balancing costs and use of resources) into their individual parts, analyzing the characteristics of each.
- The Technical Production Manager is open to new ideas and perspectives, improving his/her ability to generate creative ideas and suggestions.
- The Technical Production Manager maintains composure and avoids emotionality when making decisions in demanding situations.
This competency is illustrated by completing the following tasks:
- Listen to suggestions and build ActionPro™ system and production system to match what is needed as closely as possible.
- Using all current resources to find quick, effective solutions to problems both small and large.
- Research and utilize new technologies that may improve our system capabilities.
Competency: Communication
- The Technical Production Manager spoken and written communication styles are clear, descriptive and direct.
- The Technical Production Manager checks for understanding regularly, acknowledges that the purpose of communication is the client's improved understanding of the survey process through ActionPro™ and other means.
- The Technical Production Manager can adapt his/her communication style to the listener.
This competency is illustrated by completing the following tasks:
- Communicate system problems, solutions, and timeline to all necessary staff.
- Assist clients with survey communication planning.
- Work with ActionPro™ development organization on running data reports properly and accurately and ensuring the action planning system is updated regularly.
Competency: Customer Service
External- The Technical Production Manager helps address any ActionPro™ or survey production concerns that the clients may have.
- The Technical Production Manager works to create custom solutions per client requests, when possible.
- The Technical Production Manager is responsive to all coworker ActionPro™ or survey production technology requests. Making sure all staff members have the tools they need to do their job.
- The Technical Production Manager is available for questioning to effectively train employees on how best to use ActionPro™ and survey production tasks.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree required (Business Administration, computer science, math, engineering, or related field preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years managing employees in a processing/production (survey processing preferred) environment and minimum five years experience in application development, web development, and IT project management.
- Strong technical background.
